Egg roll–inspired dining concept All Rolled Up comes to Dutchtown
At Urban Eats' marketplace, Bryan White and Terry Coleman serve savory and sweet options, as well as fresh sides from locally grown produce.

In mid-August, Bryan White and Terry Coleman introduced a novel food concept at Urban Eats' marketplace in Dutchtown: All Rolled Up, serving freshly made savory and sweet egg rolls with from-scratch sides.
“We toyed with opening a sandwich shop, but we knew we needed a hook,” White says. "When you think about it, egg rolls are one of the most versatile things out there. They’re the perfect platform to pretty much do anything that we wanted. We came up with these unique creations, based on some of our favorite sandwiches, added some of our favorite side dishes and desserts, and we went from there.”

All Rolled Up offers both savory and sweet egg rolls, made fresh to order. On the savory side, the cheeseburger egg rolls are a customer favorite. Other popular options include the Reuben (with slow-cooked beer braised corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, sauce for dipping), the chicken Parmesan (with breaded chicken breast, marinara sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, Asiago, and Monteray Jack, garlic, and Italian seasonings), and the gooey grilled cheese roll (topped with butter sauce—White's personal favorite, especially when paired with tomato soup). Can't decide which to order? Try the sampler: three egg rolls of your choice for $10. “We want people to try all our flavors,” says White. "They’re sometimes surprised by which is their favorite."
Sides include seasonal vegetables, soups, and fries. “The tomatoes and all of the vegetable sides come straight out of our organic garden at home," says White, who recommends the tomato soup and cucumber salad. “Gardening is another one of my passions, so the restaurant’s been a way to combine two things I love.”

And for dessert? “The gooey butter and cheesecake egg rolls are pretty much tied,” White says. For summer, All Rolled UP also offers a campfire classic: the S’mores eggroll (with crumbled graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate chips, topped with cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce, and served with vanilla bean ice cream). And the co-owners are testing fall flavors now. “We’re working on a pumpkin cheesecake egg roll," White says. "As with all our recipes, we get to eat a lot of good food to perfect our recipes."
The Space
Urban Eats' marketplace currently hosts three other food vendors besides All Rolled Up: Tacos La Jefa, Crepes and Treats, and Sugoi Sushi. All of the vendors are open Thursday through Sunday, though each one's schedule is unique; visit the respective vendors' Facebook page for times and offerings. There’s free parking on street, as well as a small parking lot. And while you’re on Meramec, consider a visit to such neighboring shops as The Wink (a shop with spaces for seven local vendors), Twice Blessed Resale shop, and more.

All Rolled Up may have been just a pipe dream if the pandemic hadn’t hit. “Terry worked at a factory, and he lost his job in May," says White. "I work as a visual designer and choreographer for marching band programs at the national and local level; with COVID's impact on large gatherings, my job took a massive hit and gave me a lot more free time. So we decided to explore some things we always wanted to do."
A turning point came at a barbecue in early spring. “We were just sitting around, talking with the owners at Hummel’s Pub, and they offered to allow us to run the kitchen there,” White says. “We did that from mid-May until mid-July. We were making the egg rolls but more bar-food style. When we were approached by John Chen of Urban Eats to do something closer to our vision, we made the move.”
For White, the biggest satisfaction comes from customers’ reactions. “We've had really positive feedback," he says. "It’s really rewarding to see people enjoy our food."
