2020 Pumpkin Wars landing page

On October 18, St. Louis Magazine hosted the third annual Pumpkin Wars: Chefs vs. Surgeons pumpkin carving competition, presented by St. Louis Children's Hospital. Pediatric surgeons from St. Louis Children's Hospital went head-to-head with local chefs to carve the most boo-tiful pumpkin. We Are Live!'s Chris Denman hosted the virtual event, which featured Dr. Christopher Dy, Dr. Katherine Dunsky, and Dr. Kamlesh Patel facing off against chefs Tyler Davis of Alchemy Bakery, Marie-Anne Valesco of Nudo House, and Caryn Dugan of STLVegGirl and the Center for Plant-Based Living.

Click here to help kids who will be spending Halloween at St. Louis Children’s Hospital have a fab-BOO-lous day! Because of COVID-19 safety protocols, St. Louis Children’s is hosting “reverse trick-or-treating” and will be delivering costumes and goody bags to each patient’s room with treats, games, and coloring books to enjoy on Halloween. Your donations help the team purchase items to fill the bags!

Although Halloween might look a little different this year, we want to help you and your family celebrate the exciting occasion that so many kiddos look forward to every year. Whether DIY'd or store-bought, show off your child's costume by submitting a photo here. The winner, as voted on by the public, will receive a custom St. Louis Magazine cover mockup featuring them and their costume!

There’s nothing like carving a pumpkin to get into the Halloween mood, but it is one reason emergency rooms see a spike in the number of people treated for hand injuries in the fall season. Follow these 5 steps, provided by Consumer Reports, to keep you injury-free this Halloween.
